Google Trademark Policy Revision - How we are effected?
Google today rolled out the revised version of its Trademark policy. In summary it states that Google will not monitor the Trademark keywords in Adwords from June 4 09. Any advertiser can bid on any of the brand keywords. In Google's official language its say:
The Effects:
Beginning 4 June 2009, Google will no longer monitor or restrict keywords for ads served to users in the regions listed at https://adwords.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=144298, in response to trademark complaints. This change will bring our procedure in line with our current approach to keywords in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Ireland.
The Effects:
- Its a good news for Affiliates. Now affiliates will easily take the benefit of Branding of big firms. They may use the brand related keywords in their adcopies to proclaim as original brand.
- The big brand have to fight for the brand claim. Instead of selling features/benefits, they have to keep a tight focus on brand visibility.
- The big affiliates will wipe out the small players, they may build several mini sites focusing on keywords/Brand. The big players will bid heavily to grab the biggest pie of market share.

New Adwords Interface Launched
Google today launched beta version of its new Adwords interface. Lets take a quick look at it:
The new Adwords interface is mainly focused on enhancing the user experience & speed.
Many functionality can done by remaining on the same page. Now you don't have to load altogether new page for every function.
Top navigation bar now contains a drop down menu to reduce the clicks to reach specific pages.
The color has been changed to a more darker one now.
Lets have a look at the changes in a more detailed manner:

Now you can Pause, Resume or Delete any Campaign or Adgroup without loading a new page. Also you can edit the budget without leaving the page.

There are many drop down options available at the top navigation bar to reduce the clicks to reach the specific page. Its also showing the Campaign/Adgroups in left navigation for direct reach.

That's all I have just figured out at the initial glimpse. I will be happy if you share your observations with me on the new interface. In the mean while I will take an indept look the changes.
For more details have a look at http://www.google.com/adwords/newinterface/resources.html

Facebook Pressure - Google Launches Demographic Targeting
Google after gaining a respectable control over the internet, is now thinking of making money. It is trying really hard to make Adwords better.
The Facebook pressure forced Google to launch "Demographic Targeting" in its placement targeting ads (formerly Site Targeting). The program is still in its beta phase with restricted entires. You can target your ads with the following options:
Gender
• Female
• Male
Age
• 18-24
• 25-34
• 35-44
• 45-54
• 55-64
• 65+
Annual Household Income (USD)
• 0-14,999
• 15,000-24,999
• 25,000-39,999
• 40,000-59,999
• 60,000-74,999
• 75,000-99,999
• 100,000+
Ethnicity
• Any
• White/Caucasian
• Black/African American
• Asian/Pacific Islander
• Hispanic
Children
• Children in household
• No children in household.
The demographic content network contains some really good names like MySpace.com, Ryze.com, BlackPlanet.com etc. I am a bit surprised with the absence of Orkut.com. After all Orkut possess one of the best demographic data of its users. In the war of MicroHoo & GoogleHoo, Google may be able to generate revenues throught this demographic targeting. Good Luck Google.
